Faculty Alum Friday: Mike Davis, Class of 1991
BRHSF: How long have you work at Baton Rouge High School?
MD: 11 years
BRHSF: Why did you choose to work at BRHS?
MD: It was always the plan to return.
BRHSF: How did BRHS prepare you for college and/or your career?
MD: I found the work in college easy, compared to what was expected at Baton Rouge High.
BRHSF: What activities were you involved in as a student at BRHS?
MD: I played the drums.
BRHSF: What teachers or staff influenced you as a student at BRHS and how?
MD: Thom Barber is THE reason I became a teacher. But Jan Daly and Andy Martin also contributed to my understanding of what it meant to be a great teacher.
BRHSF: What is a fun fact, embarrassing moment, or funny story about yourself from high school or now?
MD: According to Bobby Campo, I was the only student he ever kicked out of band.
BRHSF: What advice would you give current students?
MD: Do not view education as something being done TO you. Take full advantage of the opportunities afforded by Baton Rouge High on a daily basis. It’s not the grades or your GPA that ultimately matters. Instead, it’s the knowledge you gain and your ability to be an autonomous learner that has a greater impact on your future success.
