2021 AP Scholars – Raising Banners High!

July 27, 2021 By BRHSF

296 Baton Rouge Magnet High School were named 2021 AP Scholars by College Board. According to College Board, “The AP Scholar Awards recognize high school students who have demonstrated exemplary college-level achievement on AP Exams.” AP Scholars must receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams. AP Exams are college-level exams on specific subjects taken by high school students. At many colleges and universities, as score of 3 or higher on an AP Exam will earn a student credit toward their degree.

In addition to the AP Scholars, 13 students earned the AP Capstone Diploma. AP Capstone is a 2-year program which consists of students completing two courses (AP Seminar and AP Research), obtaining scores of 3 or higher on four other AP exams, and publicly presenting a 5,000 word academic thesis paper.

This year, more than 4000 college credits were earned at Baton Rouge Magnet High School through the AP Program. 25% of the BRMHS Class of 2021 earned more than 24 college credits (1 full year) during their high school career.
