Outstanding BRHS Alumni

1969 BRHS and 1973 LSU alumna Janice Harvey Pellar has committed an endowed gift to establish the Janice Harvey Pellar Chair in Voice and Keyboard in the LSU College of Music & Dramatic Arts. The Pellar Chair will provide year-after-year support, in perpetuity, to attract and retain the highest-caliber faculty members to the college’s School of Music.
Janice was inducted into the BRHS Hall of Fame in 2015 and is recognized for her generous support for BRHS with the Janice Harvey Pellar Choir Room in the Arts Wing.

Cordell Haymon, 1961 graduate and former Foundation Board member, has been named the 2017 Golden Deeds Award winner. The Golden Deeds award is voted on by the Inter-Civic Council of Baton Rouge, which is made up by members of various civic organizations throughout the area, such as the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, Cortana Kiwanis Club and East Baton Rouge Lions Club. Cordell was inducted into the BRHS Hall of Fame in 2011. The Haymon Reception area at BRHS is named in recognition of Cordell, Carroll and Houston Haymon, a family graduate legacy.

We are so proud to acknowledge these ‘great grads’. Our Legacy of Excellence continues because of their commitment to improving education in our community.
